ACP Workshop — Intermediate

Intermediate courses at the ACP build on the basic skills and experience acquired from ACP Foundation courses and lead to more advanced specialist subjects. ACP Membership is optional for Camera Craft 2.

Demand is always intense and prospective students are advised to enroll in their chosen course well in advance of the published starting date. To ensure you and your fellow students get the best out of each class there are necessary prerequisite levels of skill. These are indicated in the course outlines. New members who already have basic skills should arrange an interview with a member of the ACP Workshop team for a portfolio review. Our trained staff will then be able to advise you on the course best suited to your current level of expertise.

Beginners' Flash The portable flash is one of the photographers most versatile tools, this workshop is for anyone who wants to better understand their external speedlight and gain confidence and the technical skills to know how to use flash under a range of different lighting conditions. (3 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $295.00/$265.00)

Black & White 1 In this course you will learn how to print in B&W. A beginners' darkroom-intensive program through which you will learn how to process film, analyse your negatives, make contact proofs, select and print an image. (10 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $725.00/$650.00)

Black & White: Print The print is the culmination of the darkroom process. In this beginners' short course you will be introduced to the various techniques of darkroom wet printing. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $425.00/$385.00)

Black & White: Process, Proof and Scan In this hands-on beginners’ short course you will learn how to process film, make contact proofs and be introduced to the magic of the B&W darkroom by Workshop tutor, Michael Waite. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $425.00/$385.00)

Camera Craft 2 Building on Camera Craft 1, this course will teach you how to make better pictures. You will discover new skills including the creative use of filters, alternative processing of film, and working with light. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $425.00/$385.00)

Camera Raw Why Shoot RAW? Discover the answer to this question and unlock the full potential of your digital SLR by learning the non-destructive image editing techniques possible in Adobe's Camera Raw. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $425.00/$385.00)

Creative Vision with Mark Tedeschi Rev up and refine your digital photographic skills in a comprehensive course with award-winning photographer Mark Tedeschi. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week)

Digital Workflow Can you find files when want them - quickly? Are your work practices making you less productive? As digital photographers it is very easy to become overwhelmed by images. (4 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $425.00/$385.00)

InDesign for Photographers This course introduces you to the fundamentals of the industry standard design and layout program, Adobe InDesign. You will learn how to navigate this powerful program to produce a basic photographic book design ready for print. (10 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $725.00/$650.00)

Lightroom This 5 week course will teach you all aspects of working with Adobe's economical yet powerful Lightroom program. Using Lightroom efficiently will enable you to spend more time behind the camera. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $425.00/$385.00)

Photographer's Assistant Becoming a photographer's assistant is widely recognised as one of the best ways to establish a career in photography. This course is for anyone with a basic understanding of photography and an interest in becoming a professional photographer by first working as an assistant. (5 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week)

Photoshop Concentrating on Adobe Photoshop, this course introduces you to the fundamentals of working with digital imaging. (10 classes / 3 hours per class / 1 class per week, $725.00/$650.00)

Photoshop Basics 1 This intensive daytime course is aimed at beginners with no prior knowledge of Photoshop. Your tutor, Gus Weinberger, will teach you to confidently navigate the workspace and basic tools of Adobe Photoshop. (5 classes / 6 hours per class / 1 class per week, $595.00/$535.00)

Pinhole Photography In this fun, hands on course you will be taken back to the basic principles of photography by making and using your own pinhole camera. (3 classes / 3 hours per class / Weekend)

ACP Membership

ACP Membership is required for all courses* and access to the ACP Workshop facilities. Membership is valid for 1 year and entitles you to:

• Free use of the ACP Research Library

* ACP Membership is optional for Camera Craft I, II, III and Digital Camera Basics and Workshop Events. ACP Premium Membership is required to participate in the Afterlife program.
