SkinPhotographing the Nude
Specialist Course
Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed. - William Blake The human form has held an enduring fascination for artists across time and culture. Depiction of the body has been central to art since cave paintings and fertility figures. In this specialist 5 week course, your tutor, experienced commercial photographer and visual artist, Hamish Ta-mé, will discuss the aesthetic, ethical and technical issues of working with the naked human form; from the classical ideal of beauty to current discussions concerning art and pornography. The course will address the practical issues of lighting for the nude in two shoots, one with artificial lighting and the other with ambient light. The course will be held off-site in Hamish’s Moore Park studio, which is one of the largest daylight studios in Australia. Intrinsic to the course is a rigorous process of pre-visualisation, planning, shooting and critique.
