When you photograph a face...you photograph the soul behind it. - Jean-Luc Godard

To make a successful portrait is to glimpse the essence of a person, to show the soul reflected in the features. This challenging course explores in depth the techniques and aesthetics of photographing people. From the initial research and planning, through atmospheric lighting and strong composition, to forging an empathy with your subject, you will gain practical insight into market opportunities for the portrait photographer and such potential clients as casting agents, theatre promoters and acting schools. The course includes a series of assignments, which you will complete between classes and analyse through group discussion each week.

Required: Lighting (or relevant experience), a digital or film SLR camera

Places strictly limited, ACP Membership is required
