Now and When - Christomson Tapiru

Christomson Tapiru

Christomson Tapiru was born in the Philippines and came to live permanently in Australia in 2003.

Christ has been homeless on and off for 5 or 6 years and is now living in a hostel. He enjoys studying photography and music. His life at the moment is a struggle due to family conflict. Christ has a 4 year old son who lives with his mother. Christ is getting his life together because he wants to provide a better future for his son.

Change the World

These images are about youth and age. Some of the older people are on the street, some are in hostels. Some of the young people are in crisis accommodation, some are on the street. Sometimes when I look back at my own life, I have regrets about things I've done wrong. That's why I don't want young people to get into trouble or be homeless or do drugs, otherwise they are going to look back at the past too and feel lonely and unhappy about the things that happened.

But I can't change the older people's future. When I look at the young people, I think "You can do something about their lives and you can do something to change their future". Being a street kid myself I just want to change their lives from bad to good, because I have now taken a better path in my life after years of struggle.
