Photographic Courses Hours: Mon-Sun 10am-5.00pm

The ACP Photographic Courses facilities include a state-of-the-art digital suite, a fully equipped lighting studio, a black & white darkroom and a library of specialist photography books and magazines from around the world. ACP Membership is mandatory for access to all facilities and courses*.

Digital Hire

The digital media suite features brand new Quad-core 21.5 inch i7 iMacs each with 16GB of Ram. All computers come equipped with CD/DVD burners. Software includes: Photoshop and Bridge CS5.1, InDesign CS5.5, Illustrator CS5.1 and Lightroom.

We are proud to announce that the ACP is now an official teaching space for Wacom. We have Wacom intuos 4 tablets available.

Scanning facilities include: Epson Perfection V700 (up to A4 print and up to 8x10” film). Printing is available via the large format Epson Stylus Pro 4880 and 4000, capable of producing archival images up to A2 (420 x 594mm) in size.

Time can be paid for by the hour or purchased in packages which offer bulk-rate discounts. Once purchased bulk time can be used for either darkroom or digital facilities. Bulk rates are paid in advance and are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Darkroom Hire

The darkroom is fitted out with black & white LPL enlargers, capable of working with negatives up to 6x7cm. A 4"x5" sheet-film enlarger is available, on request.

Black & white printing is wet-tray and caters for prints up to 16”x20” in size. Film processing is available for black & white, in 35mm and medium formats. Chemistry is supplied for all darkroom facilities.

Members are required to supply their own photographic paper and accessories, such as scissors, negative sleeves, and blower brushes. Many of these items are available for purchase from the Photographic Courses reception, as well as colour and black and white film.

Studio Hire

The lighting studio is 7.4 x 5.6m and features an entire wall of windows facing north, offering an abundance of natural light. There is also the capability to black the studio out completely.

The studio is also equipped with various tripods, stands, lighting accessories and backdrops.

ACP Membership Fee

ACP Membership costs $50, is valid for 1 year and entitles you to:

  • 10% discounts on all ACP catalogues and publications
  • Discounts at selected photographic stores and labs
  • Free use of the Library

Membership is mandatory for access to all Photographic Course department facilities and courses*.

*excluding Camera Craft 1, 2 and 3.
