Large Format Photography
The magic of the large format camera Please note you don't need to own a large format camera to partake in this class. In this two week course you will learn the essentials of large format film photography. Emphasis will be placed on the aspects that differentiate large format from the smaller formats, such as - higher resolution; perspective control; focal length and depth of field effects; as well as the slower, more contemplative approach required. The variety of options available in large format can be confusing for beginners.This course should clarify for students what sort of equipment will be suitable for their style of photography. The fundamental concept will be the use of 4x5 and 8x10 field cameras for fine art applications in portraiture, landscape and still life. The course will concentrate on traditional techniques using film. Please note costs of materials may apply.
Required: experience with film cameras. you are not required to bring a large format camera to this class
